The Australian Commission on Safety and Quality in Health Care ('the Commission') developed the Colonoscopy CCS on behalf of the Australian Government, Department of Health. The objective is to decrease clinical practice variation, facilitate high quality colonoscopy and promote shared decision making between patients, carers and clinicians. The standard relates to the care of adult patients undergoing colonoscopy for screening, diagnosis, surveillance or treatment. It covers the period from when a patient is referred for consideration of colonoscopy through to discharge including planning for follow-up care.
Development of the Colonoscopy CCS has benefited from close collaboration between the Commission and relevant clinical colleges, professional societies and consumer groups. The Commission acknowledges the strong leadership provided by GESA as the peak professional body for gastroenterology in Australia.
Launch Monday 10 September 08:30am to 10:30am (Great Hall 2).
